Fallen branch and lots more overhanging

Reported via desktop in the Fallen branch category anonymously at 20:19, Wednesday 15 July 2026

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 9793882.

Dear Tree Team,

I am writing to request an inspection of the council-owned trees adjacent to the cycle path behind my property at 52 Beverstone, Orton Brimbles.

The lower branches are routinely pruned as part of your maintenance programme, for which I am grateful. However, the upper crowns have become very large over the years and extend over my garden and towards my house.

A significant branch has recently broken from one of the trees (photos attached). Fortunately it did not cause any damage, but it has raised concerns about the condition of the remaining trees.

In addition, the council previously removed one tree from the same group because it was considered at risk of falling towards my property. Given that history, together with the recent branch failure, I would be grateful if someone could inspect the remaining trees and advise whether any crown reduction, deadwood removal or other maintenance is now appropriate.

I am not requesting that the trees be removed, only that they are inspected to ensure they remain safe and are appropriately maintained.

Thank you for your assistance, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Paul Edwards
