  • Thank you for your report

If a vehicle has been involved in a collision and left at the roadside, this is not automatically considered an abandoned vehicle.

In these circumstances: The police should be made aware if they are not already informed, they can be contacted on 101. The owner is normally responsible for arranging recovery, usually through their insurance company. Recovery after an accident can take several weeks, especially where insurance investigations or authorisations are required.

Because of this, the council cannot treat accident‑damaged vehicles as abandoned immediately.

If the vehicle remains in the same location after 4 weeks, you can then contact us again and we will be able to log it as a potential abandoned vehicle for investigation. Please can you reply to ask@peterborough.gov.uk quoting the fix my street reference number.

Kind Regards DV Customer Services Digital and Customer Access email: ask@peterborough.gov.uk www.peterborough.gov.uk

State changed to: No further action
