Public Footpath Neglect Putting Everyone At Risk

Reported via iOS in the Public right of way - problem with access or damage category anonymously at 14:44, Sunday 18 January 2026

Sent to Peterborough City Council 1 minute later. Council ref: 8713884.

It is genuinely hard to describe this as anything other than sheer negligence left behind by so called “public services”. What should be a safe and usable pedestrian route has been turned into a muddy, churned up mess that looks more like a building site than a public footpath. This is an area used daily by families with young children heading to nearby nurseries, by elderly residents walking to the pharmacy, and by people simply trying to reach the local shops. During frosty mornings this mud freezes solid, turning the whole stretch into a dangerous obstacle course where a slip or fall feels almost inevitable. The scale of the neglect is staggering, with no effort made to clean up, secure the area or even acknowledge the risk being created. Leaving a busy public access route in this state shows a complete lack of care for safety and a worrying disregard for the people who rely on it every single day.
