7.5t weight limit

Reported via desktop in the Traffic sign category by GARETH BROWN at 08:05, Mon 15 September 2025

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 8164891.

It is extremely disappointing that despite repeated reports of this defective sign on 04/03, 03/06, 21/07, and 30/08, the WRONG sign has now been installed. We are now left with two signs that directly contradict one another, causing complete confusion for the public.

Is the weight restriction at the A47 junction, or in ¾ mile at the Langley Bush junction? If an HGV attempts to gain an advantage by using Sutton Heath Road, they have no choice but to continue into Southorpe, which does not have the carriageway width, visibility, or infrastructure to cope with HGV traffic.

I also cannot fathom how your contractor has turned up on site, removed the 7.5t “except for access” sign, and replaced it with a “in ¾ mile” sign. Surely common sense would dictate that removing one sign and replacing it with another that neither matches what was removed nor aligns with the sign opposite is unacceptable.

Given the utter chaos that National Highways are already creating on the A1 and A47, this needs to be rectified immediately.
