Reported via desktop in the Other public drainage issue category anonymously at 23:26, Thu 21 August 2025
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 8058759.
I am writing to report a persistent and unpleasant foul smell that appears to be coming from a nearby drain/manhole close to my property at Everest Way, PE7.
This issue has been occurring frequently for over a month. The odour is present on an almost daily basis, lasting for 2–3 hours at a time, and sometimes for much longer — occasionally the entire day. It is noticeable even when we are not near the drain, and it enters our home whenever windows are opened.
This situation is having a serious impact on our daily life. We are unable to ventilate our home properly, the smell is making us feel unwell, and we are concerned about the wider public health risks if this continues.
I request that the Council carry out an urgent investigation, identify the cause of this odour, and take remedial action as soon as possible. If responsibility lies with another agency, please ensure the matter is referred and provide an update on the next steps.
Please confirm receipt of this complaint and provide a reference number for the case.

Unfortunately Everest Way is not adopted public highway as such the responsibility for the maintenance of this development is still with the developer Persimmon Homes (01733 397200) any other foul water manholes outside of this development would be the responsibility of Anglian Water who maintain the foul water sewer network (03457 145145).
State changed to: not the council's responsibility
