Overgrown branch and potential wasp nest
Reported via mobile in the Overgrown trees category anonymously at 14:18, Fri 25 July 2025
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7932412.
There is a long branch that is overgrown and hanging into the garden. I have a 3 year old who plays in the garden and this has a risk of snapping down into the garden and falling on him. There has also been an increase in the amount of wasps coming from the tree. I have an EpiPen for allergies and have not been able to use my garden due to risk of being stung.

Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.
In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has visited the site, assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.
We don't prune or remove council-owned trees because they are considered too big or too tall unless it is deemed to be dangerous.
All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.
For further information please read the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028
I trust this answers your enquiry, however, should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Aragon Direct Services - Trees@Peterboroughlimited.co.uk.
