Overhanging trees not pruned or cut down

I reported this problem again at beginning of May and was sent an email saying there would be an inspection. I don’t know if this has happened. The trees continue to grow and branches where almost touching the ground in places and the overhang from the high branches is now reaching 17 feet into my property. I have to mow the lawn and have just resorted to pruning the branches I could reach. I enclose photos of the amount of branches pruned and the overhang and height of the trees. I am 73 years old and this work should be carried out by the Council since the trees are Council tree belt trees. The pruning was done regularly several years ago but nothing has been done for several years. My front garden is my property and the trees are encroaching into it. The trees must be either drastically pruned or cut down.

  • Thank you for your enquiry, Orton Waterville Ward will be undergoing it’s 3 yearly tree survey during the Summer where our operatives are carrying out a variety of minor tree works. These works where necessary will include :

    - Crown lifting of low branches affecting footways, highways and street lights and signs
    - Basal epicormic and ivy removal
    - Removal of deadwood
    - Young Tree Maintenance

    Following these works the trees will be inspected by a qualified tree surveyor, and all other required health and safety works will be collated and issued over the coming weeks for completion.

    It is highly probable that once these works have been completed your issue will be resolved. However if you find that by the end of the summer period that the issue is still present then please feel free to contact us again
