Trees overhang by at least 10ft
Reported via mobile in the Overgrown trees category anonymously at 12:40, Wed 21 May 2025
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7599852.
There are many huge trees which overhang my garden on two sides. Swamping the trees on my side, in places by more than 10ft. They constantly drop dead branches and have been allowed to grow since the houses were built in the 1980s. It is completely unreasonable to suggest that I trim them. I am a pensioner and widow and could not possibly deal with trees this size. The dead tree has been cleared and I am grateful for that but the overhang has yet to be addressed. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this issue this in person

Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.
In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has visited the site, assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.
We don't prune or remove council-owned trees because they are considered too big or too tall unless it is deemed to be dangerous.
All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.
For further information please read the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028
I trust this answers your enquiry, however, should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Aragon Direct Services - Trees@Peterboroughlimited.co.uk.
