Overgrown trees by the back of my fence
Reported via mobile in the Overgrown trees category anonymously at 08:15, Sat 3 May 2025
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7517546.
These trees are really overgrown, we are having to cut the overhanging pieces that are coming over to our side, every week. The trees are also blocking sunlight from coming into our garden. We bought this property last year and we were informed by the owners that the council cut the trees every year so that some privacy is kept but not intruding. Please can you tell me when this will be done?

Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.
In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has visited the site, assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.
We don't prune or remove council-owned trees because they are considered too big or too tall unless it is deemed to be dangerous.
All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.
For further information please read the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028
I trust this answers your enquiry, however, should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Aragon Direct Services - Trees@Peterboroughlimited.co.uk.
