Inadequate bin protection from weather
Reported via mobile in the Litter removal category anonymously at 09:24, Friday 24 January 2025
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7025137.
Hampton water has a severe litter problem - not because of people, but because of inadequate bin housing.
You state that “Each year, we spend over £1m cleansing our city's streets and public places. This includes picking up litter that people choose not to dispose of correctly.” However, perhaps you should be investing some of that into protecting the bins in the first place, which would minimise the issue, at least it certainly would in areas like this.
Hampton Water area is quite exposed, and the wind rampages through the area knocking over the bins, filling ditches and paths with an unbelievable amount of rubbish. I have some shocking images from just this mornings wind, but they wouldn’t upload - I’ll be happy to provide them. I litter pick in my local area but, this problem is beyond litter picking. It is such a shame In a brand new build area, to have such a disastrous rubbish problem, that isn’t even caused by the residents. It’s simply not good enough to allow this, and I would like to insist you take action to remedy the issue and prevent further litter build up.
