  • Thank you for your report,

Please may we have the registration number as we would need to do some checks, if the van is untaxed for over 3 months or more we may be able to log this with the environmental enforcement team to attend and investigate.

Please can you reply to ask@peterborough.gov.uk quoting the fix my street reference number with the information we need to proceed. Additional Information: People often confuse a genuinely abandoned vehicle that PCC enforcement team have the powers to tackle and remove, with a nuisance and/or untaxed vehicle we can't do anything about. The council will not remove a vehicle that is taxed and in good condition unless there is strong evidence that it has not been in use for a long time (more than 3 months) and has been left on the highway or on private land without permission of the landowner. In making this decision the Investigating Officer will consider a range of factors such as the age and condition of the vehicle, whether it is in tax, and anything that indicates that the vehicle is not in regular use. Please see below link on what PCC deal with and how you can report other issues. https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/ residents/ saferpeterborough/ abandoned-vehicles

For the parking enforcement officers to be able to issue a Penalty Charge Notice there must be a traffic regulation order in place which creates a parking restriction for example double yellow lines. This allows the officers to issue a penalty charge notice to vehicles in contravention to that restriction. If there is an obstruction of the road or pavement or blocking drive or any dangerous parking, this is the responsibility of the police to investigate and enforce. The parking enforcement team can be contacted on: 01733 452514 Monday to Friday 09:00am to 17:00pm parking.enforcement@peterborough.gov.uk

It is not an offence to park a motor vehicle, with the exemption of a HGV, on a grass verge or pavement unless it is causing an obstruction or there is a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) in place prohibiting it.

  • Thank you for your report.

Unfortunately, customer services are unable to log this as an abandoned vehicle because: The vehicle is taxed until 01/09/25

Peterborough City Council do not deal with No Insurance or No MOT either. This is a police matter for no insurance and DVLA for no MOT matter that you can report to the police on 101 or on the links below. The council will not remove a vehicle that is taxed and in good condition unless there is strong evidence that the vehicle has been there for a long period of time. One flat tyre unfortunately is not considered as strong evidence. In making this decision the Investigating Officer will consider a range of factors such as the age and condition of the vehicle, whether it is in tax, and anything that indicates that the vehicle is not in regular use. The council will only remove a vehicle if the investigating Officer is satisfied that the vehicle is abandoned in accordance with set criteria. https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/ residents/ saferpeterborough/ abandoned-vehicles

State changed to: No further action
