Very large tree unsafely overhangs property
Reported via Android in the Tree is considered to be causing damage category anonymously at 07:05, Fri 23 August 2024
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6388713.
Very large tree in front of numbers 13,14 and 15 Kirkmeadow has now grown to such an extent that it is overhanging all three residences. During the recent high winds and rain due to the movement of the branches the tree was virtually contacting the sheds, greenhouse and fence on two of the properties. It should also be noted that adjacent to the sheds and fences is the only pedestrian access to both 13 and 14 and this makes walking in and out during stormy weather very unpleasant! Water dripping off the tree over a period of time has also lead to a build up of moss etc on the shed roofs. Very concerned as to what might happen if one of the overhanging branches breaks during a storm, particularly over the pedestrian access way.

Works recommended
Thanks for your enquiry regarding a Council owned tree.
A qualified tree surveyor has assessed your request and following a site visit has recommended works. On completion of the works you may feel the task undertaken may not fully address the issue raised. Aragon Direct Services employ qualified tree surveyors to undertake the inspections and all works recommended are in accordance within the guidance contained within the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028.
Continued management of all our trees forms an integral part of this strategy. All Council owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. Where inspection identifies maintenance work it is scheduled in accordingly with safety issues forming the highest priority.
