Overgrown and overhanging trees
Reported via mobile in the Overhanging branches category anonymously at 14:25, Sunday 23 June 2024
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6142956.
My father lives at 9 Reepham. The access to his rear garden backs onto a wooded area of trees which are extremely overgrown, making access to the back of some of the properties impossible which would prevent residents being unable to exit their home in the event of a fire or emergency. My father also has branches overhanging approx 7 feet into his garden. He is visually impaired and could quite easily walk into the branches when he is feeling the birds or mowing the lawn. We called PCC last year and they advised that they do not own the trees and to report it to Cross Keys Homes. They recently did an inspection of my father’s property and he was advised that the trees belong to PCC not them. Please can this be investigated and if owned by PCC, cut back so they are no longer a hazard to residents and my Father.

Works recommended
Thanks for your enquiry regarding a Council owned tree.
A qualified tree surveyor has assessed your request and following a site visit has recommended works. On completion of the works you may feel the task undertaken may not fully address the issue raised. Aragon Direct Services employ qualified tree surveyors to undertake the inspections and all works recommended are in accordance within the guidance contained within the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028.
Continued management of all our trees forms an integral part of this strategy. All Council owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. Where inspection identifies maintenance work it is scheduled in accordingly with safety issues forming the highest priority.
For further information please read the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028
