  • Thank you for your report,

Unfortunately, we will be unable to report this car as abandoned vehicle at this time, as it is very unlikely to fit the Abandoned Vehicle criteria as the vehicle has been there less than 3 months. The council will not remove a vehicle that is taxed and in good condition unless there is strong evidence that the vehicle has been there for a long period of time. One flat tyre unfortunately is not considered as strong evidence.

However as the car is untaxed and fits the nuisance vehicle criteria customer services have reported this car to the DVLA directly to investigate.

If there is an obstruction of the road or pavement or blocking drive this is the responsibility of the police to investigate and enforce, and they can be contacted on 101.

People often confuse a genuinely abandoned vehicle that PCC enforcement team have the powers to tackle and remove, with a nuisance and/or untaxed vehicle we can't do anything about. In making this decision the Investigating Officer will consider a range of factors such as the age and condition of the vehicle, whether it is in tax, and anything that indicates that the vehicle is not in regular use. Please see below link on what PCC deal with and how you can report other issues. https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/ residents/ saferpeterborough/ abandoned-vehicles

This has been logged for our Environmental Enforcement Team to attend and start their investigation. If the car fits the Abandoned Vehicle criteria and on PCC land/Highway a sticker will be placed on the windscreen giving the owner either 2, 7 or 14-days' notice to remove the car. https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/ residents/ saferpeterborough/ abandoned-vehicles Additional Information: For any future report where a car tax has expired but in a good condition, please report below,

Peterborough City Council enforcement team will only act on ABV report cars where there is significant evidence the car is abandoned (example, been there for very long time, weeds growing from under the car, waste inside the car or the car is in very poor condition.
