Contraflow lights no needed

Reported via mobile in the Road works category anonymously at 14:17, Sat 29 October 2022

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3923260.

Why was there a need to put in contraflow lights and restrictthe road with When the only impact of the works happening on the pavement or that the contractors decided to pile the Earth in the road. They could’ve put this to the side on the pavement and just buried off the foot way then had the temporary crossing in place where it was. And the street works chapter 8 regulations. The roads could’ve just been combed by the hole to allow traffic to continue to pass in both directions. Ridiculous delays all week and weekend because the contractors can’t be bothered to shift their muck to one side.

  • Good afternoon sir,

Thank you for your report and photos attached.

Works in question are immediate works undertaken by UKPN that have commended on Friday morning. We have had one of our inspectors on site on Friday to check the site and we requested that the works are completed ASAP due to the traffic sensitivity of the area and at the latest by Monday 31st October. TM used by UKPN was in place due to pedestrian walkway in the c/w as well as integrated pedestrian crossing. In essence, TM has been set up in a way that is safe for both drivers and pedestrians which had a negative impact on the network as a result. Despite our efforts, UKPN were not able to re-instate by Monday but are to be re-instating today and clearing the site today by 15:30.

I appreciate your comments and feedback and these concerns will again be voiced in our quarterly meetings with the utility.

    Kind regards, Veronika.
