Reported via desktop in the Swaying trees category anonymously at 10:05, Sat 16 July 2022

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3680356.

This tree backs onto my mothers sheltered accommodation at blossom court and is severely overgrown into her and her neighbours back gardens of no.9 and no.10 it also sways dangerously in the wind - causing great concern especially as my mother is house bound and this tree is very visible from her lounge and bedroom

  • Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.

In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has visited the site, assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.

The possibility that a tree or branch swaying in the wind may break does not always result in any pruning work because branches and stems have evolved to flex and bend in response to the wind and no pruning work will be able to stop trees from swaying or branches from flexing.

All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.

For further information please read the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028

I trust this answers your enquiry, however, should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Aragon Direct Services.

State changed to: No further action
