Neucance tree

Reported via mobile in the Tree is considered to be causing damage category anonymously at 16:41, Tuesday 7 June 2022

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3578657.

The concker tree is on my back wall hanging over my drive/garden. I can't use my drive due to the tree debris it's all year round, sticky sap leaves which end up all through the house and stuck to my dog and then conkers fall its a full time job picking them up so my dog and niece doesn't get hold of them and pigeons use the tree to defecate my drive/garden. I have a dog the tree debris is poisonous to the dog. As I can't park my car on the drive due to the damage the tree causes to it so its parked on the street and ive now had it broken into. We have trimmed back as much as we can safely that hangs over our drive/garden this just grows back twice as thick. The pigeons/vermin then use the tree constantly and defecate the laundry I hang on the line. The tree roots are damaging the wall of my garage and garden this now needs repairing. When the wind blows it creeks which worries me that its not safe. I've reported this before and really had enough especially as I can't use my drive to keep my car safe...its really not fair I pay a lot of money in council tax, pet insurance, home Insurance, car insurance I can't have nice garden furniture due to the tree I can't hang expensive clothes on the line in fear of pigeons defecating. I work very hard for nice things and I feel like the tree is causing me anxiety.

  • Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.

In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.

We don't prune or remove a council-owned tree to remove or reduce blossom, tree sap, honeydew or remove fallen leaves and blossom from private land. Tree sap or honeydew are a seasonal problem. When we plant new trees, we try to choose those that are less likely to cause this problem. You can remove tree sap or honeydew from your car using warm soapy water. We regularly sweep leaves and blossom from our parks, roads, and footpaths or cycle paths that run alongside them.

All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.

For further information please read the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028

I trust this answers your enquiry, however, should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Aragon Direct Services.

State changed to: No further action
