Dangerous tree hole

Reported via desktop in the Problem with tree roots category anonymously at 10:12, Thursday 2 June 2022

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3568017.

There is a large hole, approximately 18 inches deep and 18 inches wide, on the large green immediately behind 25 Howland, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough. Whilst my wife was walking our 14 year old collie dog (on a lease) the rear end of the dog fell into the hole and was unable to get out even though it's front paws were resting on the ground (the dog has arthritis in it's rear legs). My wife was unable to pull the dog out and I had to go out and pull it out by it's collar.

If someone had been riding a bike across the green and the front wheels had gone in they could have done themselves a serious injury. Likewise if an older person had been walking across there and not seen it (maybe at night) they could have also been seriously injured. As it was the dog ripped it's front claw trying to get out. The bleeding was only minor.
