Overhanging branches from tree

Reported via mobile in the Overgrown trees category anonymously at 11:25, Tue 30 November 2021

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3151155.

Tree outside my property and my neighbour is completely overgrown and some of the branches need lopping. This is causing obstruction to the guttering where all of the leaves have caused a blockage which needs clearing at our cost. Some of the branches are reaching the front of an upstairs window and is blocking sunlight. I noticed yesterday that work was done at another tree adjacent to this one and I did enquire if they were going to lop this tree but apparently not. Can someone please look into this ASAP.

  • Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.

In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has visited the site, assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.

We don't prune or remove council-owned trees because they are considered too big or too tall unless it is deemed to be dangerous.

All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.
