Temporary 40mph Speed Limit Safety Issues

Reported via desktop in the Other public road issue category anonymously at 22:00, Wed 27 October 2021

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3088745.

Along the majority of the A1139, stretching from the Boongate roundabout to where the road goes to three lanes just past the Hampton junction, there is a 40mph speed limit in place that appears to create a safety issue.

The majority of traffic appears to go well above this limit, meaning that it can feel unsafe when sticking to the 40mph limit, as I feel I am causing an obstruction to other vehicles on the road as I am not maintaining my speed with the flow of the majority of traffic.

Judging by the other reports about this, it seems to have been going on for a while so could the council please either find ways to enforce the limit more rigorously or find another way to ensure the safety of everyone on the road?
