Flooding on Bishops Road that backs up
Reported via desktop in the Other public drainage issue category anonymously at 12:08, Tuesday 19 October 2021
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3071516.
When there is a torrential downpour the drains on Bishops road at the junction with South Street can`t cope ( are they blocked? are they large enough?) and the water can`t run off our housing site. We are the Almshouse Trust in Stephensons Court between Bishops Road and Granby St. The photo shows how the water backed up into our grounds and was a whisker away from flooding 3 of our bungalows. We need to understand what the Council can do with their drains otherwise we will have to take some additional drainage action on our site. It will be even more of an issue now that the University is going up as less natural area for drainage. Many thanks Helen Facer 07770710123

Peterborough City Council are only responsible for the road gullies located on Bishops Road, these gullies discharge into Anglian Waters surface water sewers, these sewers also take private residential roof water.
We have inspected out gullies at the junction of South Street and Bishops Road and any detritus found was removed, albeit this was minimal. Therefore if this flooding is a regular occurrence we would recommend contacting Anglian Water and ask that they inspect their surface water sewer network. They can be contacted on 03457 145 145. You may wish to ensure all private surface water drains taking roof water are free flowing prior to their outfall into the Anglian Water sewer. Alternatively ensure these roof gutters to not outfall to private soakaways located in open grass areas.
