Overgrown tree on public space in Sebrights Way

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown trees category anonymously at 16:59, Sunday 3 October 2021

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3039373.

This tree is situated on a public space in Sebrights Way. It needs to be reduced in height as it blocks daylight and is a danger to the public. Branches have fallen off close to the public path.

Please note that this was previously reported, yet the exact location of the tree had been moved on the map that was emailed back to me. I would stress that this tree is in a public space adjacent to a public residential road. The grass area is tended by PCC.

  • Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.

In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has visited the site, assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.

We don't prune or remove council-owned trees because they are considered too big or too tall unless it is deemed to be dangerous.

All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.
