Pointless 40 signs.

Reported via iOS in the Road works category anonymously at 13:18, Wed 29 September 2021

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3032086.

Please explain why the 40 limit signs are still up when no work is being carried out? NO BODY IS TAKING A BLIND BIT OF NOTICE. ZERO ENFORCEMENT. NO CARS STICKING TO THE 40mph limit.

  • As I'm sure you are aware, the temporary speed limit is required for safety reasons whilst the safety barrier is incomplete. We have ensured appropriate signage is visible throughout the works areas however this is just being ignored. We have been exploring other enforcement options, the use of speed camera vans was investigated but unfortunately parking is an issue.

Moving forward, for all future safety fence schemes, we will be looking to install speed cameras within the working area. In the meantime we will continue to apply pressure on the police to enforce the temporary speed limit of 40mph.
