Tree & Shrubbery overgrowing driveway

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown trees category by Daryl Bean at 12:45, Thursday 9 September 2021

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2990123.

Hi I wrote to yourselves in May with no reply, so I'm trying again. The tree has overgrown my driveway by around 10 foot and the shrubbery brambles etc. by about 6 feet reducing the parking width to 2 cars instead of 3. It puts sap and dirt all over the cars & the shrubbery is ruining the tarmac. Previously this area used to be cut back regularly. I'm paying £50 for my brown bin and filling it with shrubbery overgrowing from council property which is not fair. This has been highlighted by the cancellation of brown bin collection service last week as my bin is full. Would you be able to help? or would you give permission for me to instruct someone to deal with it and forward the invoice to yourselves? Kind regards

  • Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.

In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has visited the site, assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.

We don't prune or remove council-owned trees because they are considered too big or too tall unless it is deemed to be dangerous.

All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.
