Visibility Splay Destroyed - Danger to Road Safety
Reported via mobile in the Overgrown trees category anonymously at 10:22, Sun 29 August 2021
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2965296.
As a Parish Councillor, I have received several reports from Newborough residents that visibility is a problem when exiting Werrington Bridge Road onto the roundabout and joining the A15. I have just been down to the site to investigate and the problem is very bad. It is not possible for drivers to see southbound vehicles on the A15 until they are actually joining the roundabout, which they often do at speed because they have good visibility from their right.
Apparently there have been a number of near misses recently so this matter should be dealt with as a matter of urgency.
While the offending small trees may be privately owned, highway authorities have powers under section 79 of the Highways Act 1980 to remove such obstructions.
Could someone also look at the overgrown weeds on the Werrington Bridge Road triangular island that seperates traffic on and off the same roundabout as this vegetation is also impeding visibility. Thank you.
