Large Tree roots causing subsidence

Reported via desktop in the Problem with tree roots category anonymously at 08:57, Thursday 26 August 2021

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2959618.

Large over grown trees, the roots are possibly causing bad subsidence to the building we had a survey carried out in March 2020 and this was an area of concern. The tree is located on the left hand side of the building at Roadway House Bretton. We also have a protected large Willow tree which is over hanging the car park some of the branches look damaged so we would like to also have this assessed.

Thanks for your enquiry regarding a Council owned tree.

A qualified tree surveyor has assessed your request and following a site visit has recommended works. On completion of the works you may feel the task undertaken may not fully address the issue raised. Aragon Direct Services employ qualified tree surveyors to undertake the inspections and all works recommended are in accordance within the guidance contained within the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028.

Continued management of all our trees forms an integral part of this strategy. All Council owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. Where inspection identifies maintenance work it is scheduled in accordingly with safety issues forming the highest priority.
