Update on reports 2859201 and 2857908
Reported via desktop in the Blocked drainage gully category anonymously at 09:09, Thu 29 July 2021
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2898697.
We have received your report claiming that you have cleaned the 2 footpath gullies and that there was "minimal detritus". As you can see from last night's pictures of the resulting filth deposited, once again, all over our property after 3 minutes of heavy rain, that there is considerable "detritus" in your footpath gullies. We have had 2 independent consultations with Homeserve, who insure the drainage system on our property, and Anglian Water who came out to inspect (and also flushed the drains) and both say that the problem lies in the inadequate surface water drainage that is the responsibility of Peterborough Council. Each time this happens, and it's happening more and more frequently, we have to manually pump the water away, and power wash all of our drive and patio areas using our time and electricity. This is NOT our responsibility and is surely what we pay Council tax for! We are not happy with your response so please call or email us to arrange a proper inspection by one of your engineers. We have countless photographs of the chaos this is causing and can happily supply them to whoever cares to see them. This is distressing to say the least as neither myself or my husband are youngsters any more and we are finding this more and more difficult to cope with. If we can't arrive at a happy solution then we shall be looking for a rebate on our council tax. Thank you for giving this your prompt attention and we look forward to hearing from someone soon.

We have returned back to this location and ensured all of our highway gullies on both the footpath and carriageway were free from detritus and working to their design capacity, we returned later the same day as it was raining and all our gullies were taking water with no surcharging. Our gullies outfall into a piped surface water sewer that is located in the public footpath, this piped system is the responsibility of Anglian Water, if you believe your private surface water outfalls into the same surface water sewer and is causing concern then this needs reporting to Anglian Water on 03457 145 145. No private water should be connected to the highway gullies. I have tried on numerous occasions to call your mobile to explain this but it has been engaged all the time.
