Water flowing from well Welland road
Reported via desktop in the Flooded road category anonymously at 16:54, Mon 12 July 2021
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2859245.
This has never happened before, the rain water was not draining from the road but flowing over the pavement and into the gardens of 6 and 8 and ultimately flooding both homes forcing the residents to evacuate from number 6 who are now homeless! There must be blocked drains in the road.

The gullies have been inspected and all are working as designed, the floods of Welland Road is a result of the surface water sewers reaching capacity in St Pauls Road, the surface water sewers in Welland road continue into St Pauls Road and once St Pauls Road sewer surcharges then other parts of the network experience manholes surcharging in the lowest part of the system, Peterborough City Council have asked Anglian Water to investigate their surface water sewer network to ensure this is all free flowing. On July 9th this extreme rain event that was not forecast, it has been reported this area of the city recorded a rain fall of 61mm in just 6 hours.
