We have visited the area outside 6 Walcot Walk, there are no Highway surface water gullies located along this long linear slabbed footpath, we then inspected the access road to the rear of 6 to 16 Walcot Walk and found the carriageway gullies to be free from detritus and the water level down below the outlet pipe (photos taken) Like many parts of the city on July 9th, this localised area of standing water would have been down to overland flows reaching low lying ground and also the Anglian Water surface water and Foul Water sewers surcharging resulting in excess surface water, our road gullies will only be effective if the receiving Anglian Water surface water sewer is free flowing, when this sewer network is full our gullies have no where to drain to thus results in standing water, however once the rain fall stops the sewer will empty , resulting in our gullies being able to discharge into the sewer and drain the road. Should this reoccur we recommend calling Anglian Water on 03457 145 145 and ask that they come and inspected their surface water sewers.
