Overhanging trees

Reported via desktop in the Overhanging branches category anonymously at 11:15, Mon 14 June 2021

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2790105.

The trees in the photos are on council land next to my property. As you can see they are now overhanging my property. They are now too tall for us to cut back ourselves. The ivy on the council side has also caused us problems, it has grown through our fences, we have had to replace one already - the same with our shed, this is a new one and already the ivy has grown through the back of it. Could some tidying up/pruning be done please? We have been told twice that this would be dealt with, but nothing so far.

  • Works recommended

Thanks for your enquiry regarding a Council owned tree.

A qualified tree surveyor has assessed your request and following a site visit has recommended works. On completion of the works you may feel the task undertaken may not fully address the issue raised. Aragon Direct Services employ qualified tree surveyors to undertake the inspections and all works recommended are in accordance within the guidance contained within the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028.

Continued management of all our trees forms an integral part of this strategy. All Council owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. Where inspection identifies maintenance work it is scheduled in accordingly with safety issues forming the highest priority.

For further information please read the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028
