Dear Sir/Madam,
We enclose a copy of a letter sent to us dated 4th June 2021 concerning a proposal to fell trees at the rear of our property.
The trees in question are ancient oaks which have a significant amenity value in the area. We are extremely concerned that the trees are to be removed unnecessarily.
The letter states that the trees have been identified as requiring removal as a result of a proven claim to damage to surrounding structures. However, the nearest structures to the trees are the cycleway between the trees and the houses and our garage and driveway. None of these have shown any signs of damage. We suffered some subsidence damage to our conservatory at the rear of our house, but following detailed investigation this was settled through insurance. No referral was ever made to damage from these trees and the cause was given as movement due to the clay soil on which the estate is built. We would be extremely disappointed to see these trees removed without due cause. Please let us know what evidence you have to support the decision to remove the trees. In the meantime we would ask you to suspend the tree felling order.
