Excessive and speeding HGVs

The amount of HGV Traffic along Whittlesey road has increased exponentially over the last year. Originally it was just a problem with the amount/speed and poor driving of the PJ Thory trucks but recently we have had an horrendous increase in HGV vehicles 24 hrs a day. All the houses in this area are listed, some Grade 1* and the lorries are shaking the houses. The HGV vehicles are destroying the road surface, which was only resurfaced 18 months ago. The quarry trucks leave the site utterly filthy and are still muddy and causing huge amounts of mud to be deposited on the roadway which we have had to go out and shovel up to avoid accidents. Abbey place and Whittlesey road are Heritage areas and as such cannot withstand such abuse from this amount of heavy vehicles. Incidentally, The Green, which is located along the Abbey Place / Whittlesey road stretch is weight restricted to 7.5 tons. Also, there is a 3 ton weight restriction on a post facing onto Whittlesey road by The Green suggesting that there is a 3 ton limit along this road. We suffer 24 hr huge HGV trucks along this narrow stretch of road, often at speeds in excess of 40-50 mph (it's a 30 mph limit) as they attempt to beat the lights. We see HGV drivers driving on phones and eating with no hands on the wheel regularly. HGV trucks drive up onto the pavement right outside my front door to allow other HGV trucks to pass as the street is so narrow. I have nearly been run over several times because of this as well as my four children having nearly been hit as they come out of the front door. The road surface along Abbey place is crumbing as it's where these heavy trucks begin braking for the crossroads. One lady who lives in a cottage on Whittlesey road has a pothole outside her front door which is only some 4-5 feet from the road. when it rains, this pothole fills with water and when the HGVs hit this pothole, the bow-wave sends water up the front of her house with such force it rings her doorbell!
