Thank you for your enquiry regarding the tree which is overhanging the residents garden. Unfortunately at the present time there are no identifiable arboricultural reasons to justify carrying out any works.
They do have a right to prune the branch back to the boundary of their property; however we would recommend that they use the services of a suitably qualified and insured tree surgeon to carry out this work.
If the trees are in a Conservation Area &/or have Tree Preservation Orders they will need to make an application for permission to carry out any works. Information on applications can be found on the Peterborough City Council's website
