Overhanging tree within 2 metres of property line
Reported via desktop in the Overhanging Trees category anonymously at 16:33, Friday 19 March 2021
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2620263.
Despite continually writing, phoning, emailing (originally to Amey) and having had a personal visit from my local councillor, Julie Howell, about the unmanaged tree belt alongside my property, nothing has been done in relation to its maintenance except as described in the paragraph below. My first letter of concern was written in February 2019 and my most recent to a Mr Last on the 28th November 2019.
In November 2019, when I pointed out that one tree was dangerously close to my house, it was “red spotted” and removed. There was another tree of concern within two metres of my property line which overhangs my garden by six feet. I assume it was not “red spotted” at the time because it was not close to the house. This tree has now grown even higher, approx. 35-40 feet, and when strong winds prevail it leans at a precarious angle across my garden. In these situations I do not dare venture out into the garden. Should it uproot and fall towards my property it would certainly hit the house.
I would be most obliged if one of your team would come along and “red spot” the offending tree. It should be quite obvious which one it is but if there is any doubt it is the one which sits between the gardens of 63 and 65 Chandlers.
I also look forward to the remaining trees alongside my property being severely pruned. It would be nice if the height (some close to forty feet) could be reduced so that, even in mid-summer, any sunlight doesn’t disappear after 4pm.
