PDF 040221 Tree in Paynesholm Paston.
Reported via desktop in the Tree is considered to be causing damage category anonymously at 16:19, Wed 10 March 2021
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2599722.
I am putting forward a plea for the following tree NOT to be destroyed. The tree outside 74 Paynesholm has been identified by yourselves for removal because of pavement damage. This tree was chosen some years ago for removal and when I objected someone came to look at the tree and declared it to be a very rare specimen in Peterborough because of it being grafted and therefore should NOT be removed. The pavement was repaired instead. I see on your PDF No. 040221 that it is labelled “Ash” , and no mention of the rarity of this tree. I therefore request that the tree itself is properly identified by an expert , that the tree is NOT destroyed, and that some other solution be found to repair the pavement. The tree itself is not damaged or diseased and therefore should be valued for its rarity.

Works recommended
Thanks for your enquiry regarding a Council owned tree.
A qualified tree surveyor has assessed your request and following a site visit has recommended works. On completion of the works you may feel the task undertaken may not fully address the issue raised. Aragon Direct Services employ qualified tree surveyors to undertake the inspections and all works recommended are in accordance within the guidance contained within the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028.
Continued management of all our trees forms an integral part of this strategy. All Council owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. Where inspection identifies maintenance work it is scheduled in accordingly with safety issues forming the highest priority.
For further information please read the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028
Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact Aragon Direct Services.
