Road Safety

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2598287.
Concerned with the amount of traffic that is speeding along Peterborough Road, Eye. I understand several years ago that a neighbour put a proposal forward to have speed bumps put down as the he was concerned about either a child or animal being knocked down. His proposal was rejected due to funding, however families have lived along this road for years and the safety of others should be paramount, yet never taken seriously. I’m afraid in our eyes, Peterborough City Council are waiting for a serous incident or death to occur before speed bumps are put down. We have already had to deal with a loss of two boys on the road between farcet and Yaxley, yet a footpath was not made until the death of these two boys. Both myself and other residents are very angry, we have a nice quiet village and would like it to remain. We need the support of the Peterborough City Council to act upon this now, before we lose another life. We have both elderly, young and vulnerable people and animals, so why have you never taken this on board. I’m disgusted by Peterborough City Council as when my Dad was due to be buried, I asked for his grave to be placed next to his parents, then the the Council insisted this couldn’t be done as they used the road for access purposes, yet I now see that others have been buried there. The graveyard has become a mess, a money making business, no proper access for family members at a time when we should all be allowed to grieve in peace. I look forward to hearing from you. I’ve lived on this road for nearly 30 years.
