The surface water sewer located in Ihlee Close is the responsibility of Anglian Water, Peterborough City Council maintain the road side gullies and it is known that rats will use this open grated cover as a means on ingress and egress to the main pipe sewer. Food waste and regular supply of bird food will attract rats to this food source. If this problem persists i would give Anglian Water a call as the sewer drain is their responsibility, however the rats may only be using this as a water source which they need a regular supply off, and often live under sheds or can burrow up to 3m deep.
State changed to: not the council's responsibility
