Street bench problem

Reported via desktop in the Seats and benches category anonymously at 12:13, Tue 22 December 2020

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2443221.

3 weeks ago I removed 2 carrier bags of bottles and cans from around the area of the bench. On 11 December the area around the bench had been cleaned, By 8.00 on 12 December a bag of takeaway food and drink had been dumped n front of the bench. We removed this.

Today we have again reported that there is again rubbish around the bench including masks cans and jumpers. There is another bag of takeaway food including a large pizza box in the bin. The bench is a magnet for anti social behaviour, located next to the Co-op off licence /takeaway food. In addition take away deliveries are made to the bench. The bench and the area around is regularly strewn with wine or beer bottles

Aragon waste contractors do come out to remove the rubbish when it is reported, however their efforts are in vain when within days the same littering occurs despite the fact that there are 2 waste bins close by.

The real source of the problem is the bench. This needs to be removed so that there is no gathering point for individuals who want to eat and drink to excess without a care for the surroundings. PLEASE could consideration be given to removal of the bench so that we do not have to send regular requests for rubbish to be cleared. It is a waste of everyone's time and effort that has to be spent in clearing up the mess of others.
