Tree cut down by resident replacing needed

Reported via desktop in the Request for tree to be planted category anonymously at 10:34, Fri 18 December 2020

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2437597.

Whilst appears the resident has the right to remove all the shrubs on their side of the path I find it amazing if they have cut down the tree which was on the grassed area of the council. After all it was only this year that the council added the missing trees to the estate, making it look really nice. So will the council remove the stump and replant. Also need a clear directive to ensure others do not do the same.

  • Works recommended

Thanks for your enquiry regarding a Council owned tree.

A qualified tree surveyor has assessed your request and following a site visit has recommended works. On completion of the works you may feel the task undertaken may not fully address the issue raised. Aragon Direct Services employ qualified tree surveyors to undertake the inspections and all works recommended are in accordance within the guidance contained within the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028.

Continued management of all our trees forms an integral part of this strategy. All Council owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. Where inspection identifies maintenance work it is scheduled in accordingly with safety issues forming the highest priority.
