Tree planting

Reported in the Request for tree to be planted category anonymously at 20:14, Friday 25 September 2020

Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2312189.

Hi can I request for trees to be planted along mayors walk, the street is very busy with vehicles including buses. I think the trees would go along way in helping with pollution and beautify the area. I am willing to pay for trees to be planted.

  • A Tree Surveyor has inspected and found that while there are a few trees along the road, the footpath is relatively narrow and does not allow the necessary space to plant trees.

In order to plant the trees it would require highways to construct a tree pit of sufficient size to allow the tree to grow healthly. Given the narrow footpath there would not be enough room for pedestrians and any utilities routed through the footpath would restrict room for healthy tree root development.

State changed to: No further action
