Blocking light into garden and damp area
Reported in the Overgrown trees category anonymously at 23:54, Sun 16 August 2020
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2248600.
I have complained about this tree and the neighbouring trees. They are incredibly high now (I have lived here for 25 years) and are now blocking sunlight from my garden for the majority of the day. Towards the bottom of my garden, under the tree cover, my path is constantly damp and slippery. In the autumn or winds, the leaves and fallen large twigs prove a danger to my young son and pets. I am not asking for the trees to be removed, only trimmed down to a more manageable, safe height. I am also worried, due to their huge size, of the root growth under my garden and maybe property that may invalidate my house insurance now.

Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.
In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has visited the site, assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.
We don't prune or remove council-owned trees because they are considered too big or too tall unless it is deemed to be dangerous.
All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.
