Tree causing nuisance
Reported in the Problem with tree roots category anonymously at 13:29, Fri 31 July 2020
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2224940.
Tree is causing many nuisaces. See list below: 1)Roots lifting patio stones/slab. Wife has tripped over the slabs twice in past few weeks. 2) Blocks day/sun light in garden. 3)In winter leaves/branches fill up the garden, staining the patio if not cleared up within a few weeks. 4) During windy times the tree sways in a way that it looks like it will fall.
Ideally I would like it cut down completely but if not at least branches cut right back so that its not overtaking my property/garden.

Thanks for your enquiry regarding a council-owned tree.
In accordance with the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028, a qualified tree surveyor has visited the site, assessed your request and concluded that there is no need to undertake tree works.
We don't prune or remove council-owned trees because they are considered too big or too tall unless it is deemed to be dangerous.
All council-owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. We also carry out maintenance work if it's needed.
For further information please read the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028

You do have a right to prune the branch back to the boundary of your property; however we would recommend that you use the services of a suitably qualified and insured tree surgeon to carry out this work.
