Low hanging branches over public footpath
Reported in the Low branches category anonymously at 18:16, Wed 24 June 2020
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2171253.
We live at 50 Rosyth Ave and the footpath that runs in front of our house has become a little over grown. It is becoming increasing difficult to walk without getting a face full of leaves and even more tricky to cycle along whilst ducking under the branches, especially with a toddler in the bike seat!. I understand that this land is owned by Persimmon but I wondered if something could be done about this issue. The lovely chap who comes and tidies the play area has pulled a few down but long term they could do with a proper trim as they loose so many small branches any time its windy..
If not, am I allowed to go out with a saw and remove a few??

Works recommended
Thanks for your enquiry regarding a Council owned tree.
A qualified tree surveyor has assessed your request and following a site visit has recommended works. On completion of the works you may feel the task undertaken may not fully address the issue raised. Aragon Direct Services employ qualified tree surveyors to undertake the inspections and all works recommended are in accordance within the guidance contained within the Peterborough Tree & Woodland Strategy 2018-2028.
Continued management of all our trees forms an integral part of this strategy. All Council owned trees are surveyed by a qualified surveyor for safety every one-to-five years, depending on how much the area surrounding them is used. Where inspection identifies maintenance work it is scheduled in accordingly with safety issues forming the highest priority.

These trees are not on Peterborough City Council land, they are possibly still with the Developer. We have passed this enquiry to the relevant department for enforcement
