DANGEROUS Overgrown shrubs and trees
Reported in the Public right of way - problem with access or damage category anonymously at 15:37, Tue 12 May 2020
Sent to Peterborough City Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2113676.
There is a large area of local authority land that lies adjacent to properties in Brookfurlong 72,71,70,69. It runs alongside the main walk/cycle route path that serves city centre to Bretton centre . In the past when old contractors served the area they use to maintain this area , when the new contractor took over they refused , citing that it belonged to the individual home owners . In fact it does not , it is local authority . I have reported this to a number of councillors and I telephoned a complaint. Nobody has ever acted on this. This is now so overgrown it is dangerous . It blocks the light from the street lamp, which is extremely unsafe for people when walking or cycling and actually is frightening to walk this way , with no light. Also it has become so bad , as you can see from the photographs , the growth has extended to half way across the path. The middle of the path has white and red triangles in the middle , as you can see the growth nearly touches the middle of the path . The growth is low level causing a hazard to walkers and cyclists, it’s a very bad accident waiting to happen . Also my fear is that due to the government safety measures in place in respect of covid-19 and social distancing of 2 metres , this is actually impossible to do because on this very busy path there is barely a metre . I would be grateful in view of the amount of verbal complaints I have made , that someone actually acts on this written report as soon as possible . Thank you
