Road surface problem

Is there a reason why the road markings on the Frank Perkins Parkway/Orton parkway roundabout, at the turn off for Haddon do not follow the normal convention for Roundabouts as per the Highway Code? If you enter the roundabout from the slip road off the Frank Perkins, heading west, the road marking indicate you can use the left hand lane to follow the full circumference of the roundabout to head north onto the Orton parkway. If you approach from the opposite direction, and want to access the A1 from the slip road onto the Frank perkins, the lane markings say you should use the left hand lane again, even though the approach from Orton park way is divided into 2 lanes- The left hand lane is Turn Left only (Eastbound slip road) and the right hand lane is Ahead only (Southbound towards Haddon). That means you have to sharply cut across from the right hand lane to the left hand lane. The same is true when heading north. I have seen many near misses caused by these markings on the roundabout, as convention says you should use the Right hand lane for turning right, and the left hand lane for turning left, yet the markings encourage drivers not to follow convention (even if they are 'correctly' following the lane markings). A particular squeeze point is the northern end of the roundabout where you have effectively 3 streams of traffic all trying to use the same lane; 2 coming from Frank Perkins/Haddon, and other emerging from Newcombe way.
