Not enough warning of SCHOOL children crossing

Reported anonymously at 22:25, Mon 28 June 2021

Whitnessed this morning, and on other occasions a parent being beeped at by a speeding vehicle (limit is 20mph), coming around the roundabout and nearly driving into the parent and child crossing the road. When you cross the new island crossing from Lidl side, you can’t see any cars coming until they are halfway round the roundabout, and if they are speeding you can’t get across the road quick enough to get out of their way. There are four crossings following the road around the school, two at each roundabout and they are all terrifying involving blind bends. There is only one ‘school’ road sign coming into Sugar way and it is clear it is not big enough or near the school enough to be noticed. There really needs to be either a bigger warning of school children crossing (in both directions), a digital speedometer coming towards the school, zebra crossings, cutting the foliage on the roundabout (to be able to see the traffic coming), or a speed camera. The driver this morning had no remorse for insulting and nearly hitting the parent and child and this situation happens too often and will end in an accident if not dealt with quickly. If you didn’t know the school was there, missed the one small sign, there is no other way to tell children will be around the roads until you’re round the roundabout and nearly hitting someone. Please review the safety of this situation.
