Use by cars/taxi to cut through bus park at speed

Reported anonymously at 16:14, Wed 29 July 2020

I’m a driver for the local company. The temporary bus station is being used frequently used by car and taxi drivers as a short cut and, I assume, to avoid red traffic lights on the boulevard. They drive through at speed, frequently. The sign on entry clearly states buses only and clearly the lack of enforcement in other such areas of the city leads to this issue. Buses have to reverse from bays and vehicles entering are NOT visible to us, especially at speed (blind spot). Pedestrians frequently walk across the bus park. There’s a clear risk to all legal users of this area. In the approx 10 minutes I’ve been here I have seen 3 cars and 2 taxis come flying through from Bright Street toward Westgate. I expect with the increased frequency of these violations there will likely be an incident at some point. I will make a report to my employer to identify this hazard to them too. I am already aware of the councils lack of a suitable traffic order rendering your conditional road signs and enforcing violations impossible, bizarre!
