New planting and litter

Reported anonymously at 20:07, Mon 24 February 2020

As you know there has been a large clearing and re-planting of Grimeshaw Woods behind my mother's house. She and I are not happy with how the area has been left. There are various bits of rubbish - old balls, something electrical (may be a record player), old carpet, plastic bottles, lumps of concrete etc. Apart from that, where you have allowed the woods to overgrow at the side of my mother's house and the other end of the row of houses, there is an abundance of weeds and ivy where once it was grass. I am extremely disappointed that you have re-planted at the side of my mother's house. I grew up in that house and my mother has lived there for 47 years. The woods is now a far cry from what it was when I was young. The area to the left of my mother's house was all grass when I was young with a little play area. The grass actually began where my mother's garden fence ends. It really is very sad that the council have taken little care of the woods over the years and now with the re-planting, those plants are going to grow and spread ever closer to the foot path that runs past the houses. Please clear up the mess and do something about the planting before it is too late. On a different note, I am a cyclist and regularly cycle through Bretton park and over to Hermes via Westwood. The amount of glass I keep seeing and having to avoid is getting out of control. There has been a couple of large areas of broken glass in Bretton Park close to where I live recently. And every single time I cycle to Hermes via Westwood there is ALWAYS some broken glass somewhere on my route. It is clearly being done purposefully (by drunken youths most likely) and it is soooo annoying for everyone else. Not sure what can be done about this apart from education and cameras.
